some friend i am...

Just the other night with some friends we went to HRC to see a performance by local band. There were 5 of us, strolling down the road down to the beach area. When we get there the queue was quite packed, 30-50 people. Bumped into another group of friends already queuing.

I went to the front part of the queue, asked for the person in charge and stated my name. I was admitted instantly. I hesitated a bit, as I was registered in the guest list for 2 people, what about the other 7?

I discussed this w/ my friend, she’s sort of my clubbing buddy. I provide free entry, she’s happy to drive us. I don’t know how she told them, but hey, who would pass free entry?

We went it, the place was all packed. Sauna club. Both of us weren’t really crazy about the band. We could recognized only 3, still we can’t tell what the titles were. All the way, we still felt guilty for leaving our friends behind. They made it in 4 songs later.

The band finally resumed their performance, people left we managed to move to the front. New band, top 40 songs, a couple of beers, then we left. I was relieved that my friends didn’t take it too seriously, and they still had fun banging their heads. Nah, I made that up, they didn’t really dance at all.

Anyway, late late late.. We left, but decided to get some food before heading home. Only 100 m walking toward the closest McD, I realized I lost my glasses. Some said you must have left it on the table. I was sure it couldn’t be, in a packed place like that I wouldn’t left my belongings on a sharing table, so I clipped it on my shirt (bad habit). And it was a new glasses!

I went back, my friends followed on the back. Searched the table, nothing. Swept the floor and voila! There was my glasses tucked on the corner of the wooden tiled floor. Safe and sound.

I really felt bad of leaving friends like that, and then later they were willing to help.

I guess next time I should get a dozen of free tix!! Well, I don’t date the owner to get such privilege.. Easier, next time I got free tix I just have to make sure going there only with my clubbing buddy, and meet the rest of the group inside.

Ms. Speaking met her twin

Ms. Speaking is a colleague who studied abroad and consequently speaks English all the time. I teased her a lot. We had good laughs together. One was when I was calling her extension she answered with “Amanda speaking!”

I suddenly answered, “What? I thought you’re Ms. S.. (her last name), not Ms. Speaking?” It’s one of those jokes she never got a way to answer back.

Recently we have a new staff, Annie, who I noticed picks up her phone the same method. So on a slow morning I skyped Amanda to call extension 19*. Being her ever instant response she asked, “Why?” I said it’s just a test.

a says: call 19*
ms. s says: why
a says: test
a says: now we got 2 ms. spiking here (chuckle)
ms. s says: YOU BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a says: rofl :D
ms. s says: :D
ms. s says: :D
a says: 8)
ms. s says: AAAAAAAAAAAAA GOKIL LO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She couldn’t type anymore, picked up the phone and we had a hard big laugh.

Freezing in Bali (??)

Lately Bali’s weather hasn’t been friendly. Actually it’s what I consider as cozy-cool weather, perfect for snuggling. The past month, every day the temperature is 4-8 degrees lower than the usual temperature, and only rise 2-4 deg in the afternoon. It doesn’t happen very often when one needs a blankie to warm up one’s body when sleeping. Even my boss commented for all the years he’s been in Bali it’s never been this cold.

Read in the news that this is caused by the decrease of temperature in the southern sea. One impact is this moody weather, but people are more worried because in the long run it will create lack of water. Hmmm.. global warming or global cooling?

Anyway, I’ve been enjoying this, no complaint whatsoever until recently. A couple of days ago as I was working away in the office, around 11 or so I felt my body temperature rose. Then I got sicker. Nothing serious, but enough to make me lose concentration and my working mood.

Made me remember many years back, I spent a week in Batu, Malang. The cool air was such a blessing, the clean breeze on my face was so much refreshing I didn’t care to put on a jacket/sweater. I thought the adults were silly for not enjoying it the most. After 3 days it turned out I was the one who was being silly that I caught a fever.

Lesson learned, I’ve been wearing my khaki jacket diligently, taking my vitamins and eating healthy food. Just can’t afford getting sick when I’m on my own in this island.

Indonesia is a city and we have bitches… (whooooaaa!!)

The Ms. Universe topic has been a hot one. I stop watching the lame show but a friend forwarded an intriguing email of how hopeless we can be in the international forum. Ain’t gonna waste more breath and bytes, it definitely is only load of politics.

Watch it for yourself..

Why am I repeating myself... ?

Guess that’s part of drilling a new comer.

Well, nobody drill/trained me when I joined. I practically learning by doing, doing all I can getting any information I needed (and didn’t need) to get used to the new job.

The fact of the matter is nobody told me to train either. But would you really sit there and stay silent when somebody ask you a question? I can understand if you deaf, but this is a new person that needs help, input, even the slightest gesture that she can feel that she’s welcomed.

I answered the questions, some more than required as she needs to know a bigger picture than her question. I repeated myself at times. Already once when I was repeating myself I added ‘like I told you last week...’ Hmmm.. I shouldn’t be annoyed, my patience has been tested over and over. So, nothing new.
